Upcoming Games for 2020

Published on: 09/09/2020 - 00:00 AM

New year, new games! What’s not to love about that? This year is going to be an exciting year with all the new releases which are on their way for the current generation of consoles, and the new up and coming generation which we don’t know much about just yet. Here are a few of the up and coming games we’re looking forward too.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The adorable characters are back in their new sim adventure (New Horizons), with a chilled-out atmosphere full of entertaining game play at your leisure.  Based on a deserted tropical island, where you set off on the greatest vacation ever. You won’t be getting bored any time soon, with heaps of enjoyable activities to endure from, such as: crafting, building, exploring and tons of customisations. With its online capability of up to four local and eight online friends, it’s a great way to spend hours of fun together.

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Release Date: March 20th, 2020

The Last of Us 2

It has been nearly seven years since the original game was first released and we have waited patiently for the sequel, which picks up five years after the events of its predecessor and delves deeper into the tale of Ellie, as she navigates herself through the uprising. Ellie’s stakes seem higher this time round and she seems to want to seek out revenge for something. The game itself look immense with the characters still based around the survival of a post-outbreak world. Are you looking forward to this, because we are?

Platform: PlayStation 4

Release Date: May 29th, 2020

Halo Infinite

He’s back, Master Chief is back! Could Halo Infinite be the comeback we’ve all been waiting for? This is the sixth main entry of the Halo series, where Master Chief will follow events of Halo 5 Guardians. Although not much information has been given just yet, the developers have listened to their fans, who were disappointed by the lack of Master Chief and his story during Halo 5. Therefore, this time the developers have given us what we wanted, what more could we ask for? Master Chief as the lead and a new game engine – I’m excited, are you?

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X

Release Date: 2020

Little Nightmares 2

Six is back, with a new quest, but not alone this time. Mono is the new playable character who will join Six as she guides you through the new world – which has been distorted by the humming transmission of a distant tower. Working together you’ll venture through the game searching for what is spreading pure evil throughout. During the game, you’ll be faced with new threats and nothing is as straightforward as it seems, be cautioned about the new residents of this dark world too – some more scary than others. The original Little Nightmares is a game which absorbed you into Six’s world from the very beginning, full of dark twists and turns, although a little short, it did not fail to be an aesthetically pleasing game and ominous gameplay which captivates you from the very beginning. Let’s us hope that Little Nightmares 2 is just as good, if not better!

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch

Psychonauts 2

Psychonauts is a dreamlike action adventure platformer where paranormal powers are used to progress throughout the game, which didn’t fail to deliver an enjoyable and imaginative gameplay. Now physconauts is back with Raz and his friends for another adventure, you will play as Raz – a newly graduated physconaut with powerful supernatural abilities who explores the minds of others. Pyschonauts 2 is a much-anticipated game as it was first announced in 2015, I can’t wait.

Resident Evil 3 Remake

After the smashing success of Resident Evil 2 last year, this year we get a remake to its sequel, Resident Evil 3 – which also includes a multiplayer spin off, project resistance, bonus! Perhaps the most exciting thing is we get to see a redesign of Nemesis - how exciting!
